The Long Road To The Top
Broken homes, felonies, fights, addictions, behavior modification centers, deaths, debt, jail, stress, losses, and suicide: mere chapters in the life of Lucky Lucianni.
By now it’s apparent that Lucky Lucianni not only survives; in some twisted way he actually thrives on the pain seemingly guaranteed in life. He is accustomed to standing precariously close to the edge of an early grave - at times even looking up at the living world from within a cloud of death. However, his time spent under the weather has only made him stronger and more driven to succeed. Digging his way from the underground to the surface, his only goal is to rise above the dirt and set the world on fire.
After hand-to-hand and word-of-mouth hustling his classic DIY demo, Takin’ My Cut, and declaring himself to the world as an independent, eccentric, and powerful force to be reckoned with on his 2005 debut album, On This I Stand, he bitterly forged ahead through the many personal tragedies that led up to A Thousand Thoughts A Second: his lyrical therapy for such painful events as the suicide of his father and collapse of his personal life around the same time. Where others would have been crushed, he picked up the entire weight of his shadowy world and carried it on his shoulders, determined to succeed against the odds.
Since 2006, he has been constantly performing at various venues throughout San Jose and even as far south as Brookdale, California. Lucky Lucianni has rocked The Blank Club, Johnny V’s, The Voodoo Lounge, Brookdale Lodge, Paragon Restaurant (for the San Jose Soundwave), Streetlight Records, and South First Billiards. He is a Resident MC of The Cypher, freestyling numerous times a week at Johnny V’s, The Voodoo Lounge, Iguana’s, and any other available open mic location. This is an MC with a starvation level hunger and an undying work ethic.
Luck has shared stages with 2 Left Feet, 40831, Abel Abilities, Apakalips, Appeal, Artoo, Assassin, Audio Dru, Barf Bros., Ben Flowz, Blak.Watr, Blurred Entities, Bobby Acosta, Brain Cell Massacre, Change, Chowder, Clorophil, Conspiracy, Counter Productive, Dem-One, Dim, Dirtbag Dan, Disorderly Turk, DJ Abraham, DJ Rayz, DJ Tarzan, Dlabrie, Doujah Lounge, Ekatusay, Elements of Style, Enhale, E-Sik, Ex-I, F.T.B., Fever, G Willikers, Gabriel Black, Good Hustle, G.T.A., Grunge Toefu, Harmonize, Ichy Da Killer, Infinity The MC, Jacqui Elliott, Jaime Lin, Jared Paul, Jet Danger of Cadence Theory, J-Jonah, Journeyman, Kaoe Device, Kelda Musik, Kid Guch, Latte Green, Lil Flip, Maris, Marquee, Mary Jayne, MC Ben, Mean Ol’ Lion, Meezy, Musiphile, Myc Ripley, My Monster, Otto, Pacoe the Illiterate, Pasha (Audiopharmacy), Poeticali Disterbd, Prohoezak, Rhaman Jamaal, Rheteric, Rise Of The Revolution, Roch, Rogcon, Ronnie P, Sean Blak, Shamako Noble, Shea, Shoguns, Skylar G, Sirah, Slop Opera, Stone Blunt, Tavares Daize, Temple of Roots, Tequila, The Diminions, Thunderhut, Two And A Half White Guys, Usurper Vong, Whiskey Avengers, Young D, Young Fri, and tons of other MC's who's names he just can't remember.
Like a warrior preparing for war, he methodically hones his skill. He has sharpened his tongue into a dangerous, versatile weapon – a lethal war machete, a deep-cutting surgical tool, and oftentimes a handle-less double-bladed dagger that viciously turns on its very owner. Scars and battle wounds making up his armor, he violently fights his way through the mess of mock-MC’s and industry leeches, striving for his place on the surface.
While spilling his soul out on the mic and purging his inner demons, Lucky has continued to network and build a solid community of likeminded soldiers, committed to him and his cause: spreading his plague across the scene. He is constantly and passionately performing his work for anyone and everyone. He writes every day, records just about as often, and performs at least once a week – somewhere, anywhere. If there is a microphone, there’s a good chance Lucky has infected it at some point, or will be doing so soon enough.
Lucky’s darkly poetical, painfully insightful, and simultaneously self-deprecating and all-inspiring flow is the result of a man who seeks light in all the darkest corners of life. He is a once-fallen man dedicated to his art and determined to rise against the grain; gifted with gab and the ability to ink songs with blood directly from the heart. In an industry full of questionable credibility, this MC puts his soul on the line in an effort to the turn the tides.
His work will inspire some, shame others, and carry on forever. He will not be stopped.
He is Lucky Lucianni.
